SURRENDER A BIRD

If you are contemplating giving your parrot up due to unfortunate circumstances or you know of a bird that is being abused or has been abandoned, please give them a second chance by contacting us. We believe that there is NO SHAME in surrendering a bird! We also believe there is no excuse to let yours, or another bird suffer.  If you are currently experiencing problems with your feathered friend and simply need some advise~ I welcome all questions from you.  A large amount of birdy problems can be fixed in your home without you having to surrender your friend.  Or if you would simply like to discuss the possibility of surrendering your bird, please feel free to contact me (Laura) by email or by phone.  My contact information is listed on the Contact Us page.

Please note, this is a Bird Rescue. This means that we do not pay for birds! We are, however, offering a service to you - free of charge, that includes: housing, feeding, and rehabilitating, your bird. Your bird will receive: a proper diet, a cage that is appropriate to its size and needs, medical attention, and a loving home. Your bird my be re-homed after screening if a proper home is found. If after screening and/or rehabilitation, it is found that the bird that you have surrendered can not be placed in another home, he/she will remain in the Rescue Facility (still receiving a proper diet, spacious cage, medical attention, and a loving home) and will be used to educate the public and future adoptive families. You may use the intake/ surrender form located at the bottom of this page, or will be asked to fill out an intake/surrender form when we receive your bird. We also ask that if possible, that you provide any equipment (cages, toys, food dishes) that were used for the care of your bird, be turned over for our use in caring for said bird. Equipment may be forwarded to any location that the bird remains if it is in acceptable condition.

We do understand that it is sometimes difficult to part with a special animal, and sometimes even more difficult to afford to transport that animal. We are willing to travel in order to assist you, to a certain extent. We do not believe in shipping animals, as it can be traumatizing to them - but so can living in a home where they can not receive what they need. Please let us know in advance if you will be needing assistance in getting your bird to our rescue facility.

If you have decided to surrender, please take a moment and fill out the form below.  Once you have filled it out, you may print it and bring it with you, or you can email it to me at lhodges31@yahoo.com.  Thank you.

I have read and understand the above paragraph. I agree that once I have surrendered my bird  into the care of My Fine Friends Rescue, that he/she will may be placed in a home that is found to be suitable by My Fine Friends Rescue & Aviary. If it is found that he/she can not be placed in a home due to behavioral or medical issues, that he/she will remain in the guardianship of the rescue and may be used for educational purposes. I also understand, that by signing this contract, I am terminating all rights that I have to  . If my circumstances change and I decide that can care for the bird that I have surrendered, I must abide by My Fine Friends Rescue adoption policies in order for him/her to be returned to me.  I will also make payment for any costs that might have been incurred by him/her. I also understand that he/she may have already been adopted by a loving home and may not be available to me.
