We presently do not have any birds available for adoption. However, we do come across some that need emergency placement. During those times, we refer to our waiting list. In order to be placed on our waiting list~ you must have a completed application on file.

Also.... please keep in mind.....  we receive FAR more application than we receive birds.  This may not always be true, but it is for now.

When we place a bird in a new home, it's only after visits, interviews, and instruction as needed...and the bird has the final decision on placement. We never place birds in breeding or resale situations. We don't hate breeders or retailers...we just can't give them birds.  If you adopt from us, you will sign a legally enforceable contract.

Our Adoption Policies
1) We do not adopt birds out as gifts for another person.
2) We do not adopt birds out to persons under 18 years of age.
3) We do not adopt birds to persons who wish to house the bird somewhere other than in their home as a pet.
4) We do not adopt tame birds out as companions to other birds.
5) We do not place birds in breeding situations or adopt to breeders.
6) We only adopt birds at our discretion into situations where they will receive adequate care and attention.
7)We do not place noisy species of birds, or birds that are known (at the time of the adoption) to be particularly noisy, in apartments or condos.
8) We require a signed letter from the landlord, or co-op association, if the potential adopter lives in an apartment or condo, or other location that may restrict pet ownership, stating that this bird is allowed in that situation.
9) We do not ship our birds under any circumstances.
10) We do not purchase or `ransom' birds.
11) We do not place emphasis on the first adoption application. If there is more than one potential adopter interested in the same bird, we will decide, at our discretion, which is the best home for the bird. Just placing an application for a particular bird does not guarantee your application will be approved.
12) We do not allow any birds that have come under our guardianship at any time to ever be sold, traded, given away, bred or used for any monetary purpose throughout their lifetime. In order to adopt a bird from us you must agree to return the bird to us, at no cost, if you cannot keep the bird for any reason, at any time in it's life.
13) We do not refund adoption fees, or do exchanges, on birds that are returned after an adoption is finalized.
14) We reserve the right to withdraw from the adoption process at any time with any applicant. We also reserve the right to reclaim any bird after the adoption process without refund of the fee if found that our standards of care are not being met.
15) We will be available, for the lifetime of the bird, to assist the adopter with any behavioral issues that develop. We cannot guarantee that problems will not develop, or that we may be able to assist you in resolving them.

16) BEFORE AN ADOPTION IS FINALIZED- YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO COME TO THE RESCUE FOR A VISIT WITH YOUR CHOSEN BIRD.  THIS WILL BE SUPERVISED, AND BY APPOINTMENT.  We realize that this may sound a little extreme, especially if you have to travel a long distance. However, this will give us a chance to witness how you interact with the bird AND it will also give you a chance to change your mind before you take him/her home.

Please be advised we cannot guarantee the health of any bird. When a bird comes to us it often had a series of owners and/or undocumented histories. Bird survive in the wild by masking illnesses and may have an underlying health condition. We recommend a thorough exam and testing be done by your own avian veterinarian. Any and all medical and other costs incurred in the care of a bird after adoption, will be the responsibility of the adopter.

Before any adoption is complete and you are allowed to take home a bird from our aviary, you MUST prove that you have an appropriate cage, toys, and food for your chosen parrot!

Now, if you are still interested, please fill out the form below- as you can tell, there is not a submit button, please email it to me (copy and paste) at lhodges31@yahoo.com or send it to me in the mail.
