This is me (Laura) and my wonderful husband Tony. We were married this year in April. Even though the rescue existed before Tony came along, he is very tolerant of my venture. And he is having a wonderful time learning and making friends with all the birds!

This is Brutas, he is a Congo African Grey.

Brutas has stuck with me through thick and thin and he always loves me!

He is my best bird buddy and has been with me since 2001. It is because of my love for Brutas, and all other birds......... that this rescue was founded.........................

MEET OUR NEW FRIENDS!!!!

This is Pretty Girl...............................

Her name does not do her justice. This girl is BEAUTIFUL. She is an approximately 5 year old, female, Congo Grey. Not yet used to being held. She is very quiet....... well, most of the time. Pretty Girl has decided that she does LOVE to be petted! As I am feeding her or cleaning her cage, she will come and grab my hand in her mouth, very gently, so that I will pet her. She never learned to be lifted on a hand, but we are patiently working on that. She is definitely the kindest Grey that I have ever met. Not sure at this time if Pretty girl will be staying in our aviary or not. For some reason, she cannot fly. Unsure if this is because she has never learned how, or from a slight problem with one of her wings. You can't quite tell by the picture, or most of the time by looking at her, but her wings are not quite even. When she attempts to fly...... she falls. If the decision is made to adopt her out, it would have to be to a special home that does not have any predator animals.

HAZEL

Hazel is a 7 year old Timneh Grey, who came to the aviary with Pretty Girl. She has a wonderful voice, and just loves to share it! She loves to perch on your hand or shoulder, and will even give kisses. However, she would prefer not to be petted. One of her favorite past-times is hanging upside down in her cage (she can do it for hours!). She is quite timid, but has come leaps and bounds in the weeks that I have had her.......... we will see how much further she will come before a decision is made about her staying in the aviary or being adopted out. Like Pretty Girl, she is not able to fly. There does not seem to be anything physically wrong with her to hinder her flight, so we will see if just some time out of the cage to learn will help her. She is very sweet, and will be hard to part with. If the decision is made to adopt her out, it would have to be to a special home that does not have any predator animals.

SUGAR AND BABY

Sugar and Baby are a pair of Moustache Parakeets- age unknown. Baby (male) does talk rather well, he may have been a pet at one time, and when he gets excited he stutters while saying every word that he knows! But Sugar would rather not be messed with. They were once a breeding pair, but all of the eggs were always infertile. The pair was separated for a time...... you might be able to tell that he has plucked a bit around his neck- probably due to frustration this spring. However, they were put back together to be transported to me. I have kept them caged together since during the first weeks she did not appear to take to her new surroundings very well.  They are still very easily upset. This pair will more than likely stay in the aviary.

TWEETY

This is Tweety~  she loves to be in front of the mirror! (She is actually on the left). Tweety came to us a couple of weeks ago from Missouri.  She has a bit of cage aggression, but once outside her cage she is fine.  Tweety is a Lutino Lovebird, but we are not sure of the age.  Her last owners think that she is a female, but we aren't sure yet.
